Any World Travelers in the Forum???

Recommended Pharmacies on Pharmacy Reviewer

Not saying that I have actually purchased or tried any of this in any of these locations, this is just what I have observed to be available. Oh, and be careful what is in your luggage if you are even transiting through the middle east. I have heard horror stories of people who had layovers in Dubai and the UAE being detained for having OTC codeine pills (5mg & 10mg) in their luggage.

I've done some traveling. A number of years ago I went to mexico and you could go into a pharmacy and ask for a benzo and they would just sell it to you. On the box it said it needed a doctor's script but that seemed to be ignored.

This summer I was back in mx and they have tightened some things that were otc. Any narcotic is a big deal, even percocet. Only certain doctors can prescribe them and only certain pharmacies will carry it. Plus if you got caught carrying it coming here you will be in big trouble so don't bother.

A few antibiotics are also under script and I'm pretty sure benzos are as well though I didn't ask about them. I read a while back about someone who went there a few years ago just to buy benzos. He stayed whacked out of his mind the whole trip and had to flush the rest before he returned. Sounds like a waste of a good trip.

I did buy some ivermectin which is a drug known to cure covid. I also got some hydroxychloroquin. So I got a few things that are borderline or could be grabbed but they are unlikely to make a big deal out of it since its otc and not large quantity. Put it in your checked bag wrapped up with clothing and it sails through. I guess the hard stuff would sail through as well but you are risking a big big penalty for that

I got asked when I arrived in mx if I had any cigars or cigs, and then he looked me intently in the eyes and asked how much cash I was carrying. I replied truthfully, I guess the big stare makes a lot of them stammer and act suspicious. Then a dog was led down the line but seemed disinterested. Coming back was a breeze, just the usual x ray and put your stuff in the box. No one even asked what goods I was bringing.

On the usa side when leaving or arriving they swab your hands with something and put it in a box. I think if you had handled drugs it would flash red or perhaps for bomb materials too.

Put valuables like a laptop or cash in your carryon not the checked bag. There is a list of what you can and can't put in each, its worth reading to avoid hassles. Oh, and make sure you have a pen on you when you arrive because in mexico you have to fill a form or you don't get through and they were all out of pens.

I had medical care in Thialand, you can buy benzo's over the counter but not in the big chain chemists. Bringing them back is dangerous.

I also got my prescription for opiods at a Bangkok hospital, they havn't approved Oxycontin so they swapped me to Morphine, turned out to be the best change in pain meds I had because I had awful side effects from the Oxy. My British GP gave me a letter to take and I'm pretty sure they confirmed with the UK that it was geniune. It cost me £100 a months supply and they would only give me a month at a time. Overall Thialand has a fantastic health care system and I can't speak high enough about them.

India is the only Country for OTC benzo's I know, every other Country has very strict protocols but to be honest I didn't really try.

I would highly recommend against bringing anything home unless you can get a GP to write a prescription for you.

My personal favourite; El Grandote, Veda said it best a while back , "El Hefe" 😜😀

It depends on where you’re at, and what you’re looking for. I have to disagree w/ what a member posted previously about MX.

I’ve heard, if you’re just a few miles over the border… that they’ve really cracked down on what you can purchase.
But more tourist-y type spots, both along the Pacific and Caribbean sides of the country, IME, not too difficult at all. Some locations it’s more of a buffet. And I swear, Cabo seems to have more Pharmacia’s than resorts and bars. Combined.

In general, South America is going to be your best bet. And while recently in Aruba, I asked the guy bringing me my beers if one could get Som@ (I believe due to schedule, this one is ok to talk about in this section?) My apologies if I’m incorrect on that..
But anyway, he said yeah, low schedule type meds like that are dispensed at the pharmacists discretion.

Unfortunately, the day we went to town to see if that was indeed the case, they were all closed! They’re was one that was open, but it was all the way across the island.
There’s always one that’s open during the weekend. So they rotate and take turns being on the weekends/ holidays.

I suppose if one were to travel to a certain destination with the sole purpose of buying meds, then yeah, that would seem like an expensive way to go about it.
But if it doubles up as a vacation, then why wouldn’t you check it out?
Anytime we travel out of the country, I always ask a cabbie or bartender what is and isn’t available. But I’m talking about a walk-in and buy it otc, not schedule a Dr. appt, wait, wait some more, get thru exam/ appt. just for the small chance they might write me a script.

Anything I really need, will be brought with me, no way I’m traveling somewhere, and hoping I can get the meds I need to enjoy my stay. I wouldn’t even attempt it, and most likely reschedule the trip if that were the case.

If you just plan ahead a little, really the need to go to a destination to buy your meds, seems to me like that kinda defeats the reason I would travel in the first place.

Just my rambling thoughts on this question/ thread.

Anytime we travel out of the country, I always ask a cabbie or bartender what is and isn’t available.
You just reminded me of a trip to Barbados, my ex had been desperate for some weed and we had hired a taxi to take us a tour around the island for a few hours. He took us to a food place for lunch the islanders use and the view along with the Spicy Chicken (Jerk I think) and Mac Cheese (my favourite food on the planet was heavenly, I was surprised how cheap it was, something like a few pounds for us both and it was a fulfilling meal.

Then we asked the taxi driver if he could get weed, we ended up at this house inland almost Countryside *yip, the horror movie soundtrack was playing in my head*. It turned out to be the best day we had on the island, the 5* restaurants and bars just couldn't compete. We had a blast, listened to music and they smoked to their hearts content (I've never like weed but I still enjoyed the company) sharing stories and making friends. No saws, hatchets or crazy psychopathic basements in sight 🤣. Sometimes you just have to go were the adventure takes you. 😎🌞

@Chancer
That’s literally how we determined where we would go eat dinner every evening.
In fact the second nite there, we couldn’t decide. When our driver asked where to? I told him wherever he goes for the best seafood.

We went out to eat last night. Now I’ve ruined all my favorite restaurants here at home.
The absolute freshest, best tasting grilled seafood fish and shrimp is in Aruba IMHO (granted,, our coasts here do have some damn fine crab and lobster though).

Cabbies always have the info you need, and as in your case, just may turn out to be your local connect 😂.

@Chancer @Doc Rogue Just a brief memo, regarding your most recent posts:

In year 2014, I was in PVR (MX) for 15 days (vacation + business), I misplaced my USA passport, left it in the taxi, on my
return to the Westin Resort Hotel. Next day, my "cabbie" who drove me to hotel night before, delivered my USA passport
to the lobby of this very large resort, and, had the front desk customer agent page my room. Note: I always try to be a
generous tipper, unless the service provider is a arsehole, this what was not the case. Man was I "grateful" to get my USA
passport delivered to me, by the MX citizen taxi driver !

Also, imho, there were about two (2) legit pharmacia's, in PVR, who carried the bona fide original Groupo II, Groupo III meds, in
boxes, with holiograms, such as Kl*nop*n, V*lium, Taf*l, Stiln*x, etc., as, I had the Westin in house MD write me a script for,
several of the above mentioned items. Also, in the year 2012, in Cabo San Lucas, I had direct dealings with the pharmacy owner,
who, provided me with several large purchases of several of the above names of brand, Roche, or, Sanofi, & or, back then, Pfizer
products.

Before the huge hurricane was it Hurricane Irma? imo, the best Caribbean Island to score, with the most friendly M.D.'s, multiple times
was on the island of St. Maarten, like in the years 2014, 2015, 2016 ! IDK about the present, as St. Maarten was heavily destroyed, by
that 2017 Hurricane, as 20% of the full time residents left St. Maarten, forever. (The Atlantic Ocean side was leveled, but the Caribbean
side was partially spared. SXM Arpt was damaged, but repaired. Most all meds, like the above mentioned, are imported from the
Netherlands, including the generics, like the b*nzo's. I once had three MD's + one RN who could prescibe V*lium (generic from the
Netherlands) etc. + generic X*nax (good to go in quality). of course F2F. Combining a winter vacation with a little business, and,
split my bounty, sent via DHL freight, to my re-mailer in the USA. 100% successful, with packaging, stealth, and declaration target
specific, hint documents, & controlling the weight, but this was now, over, 5 years ago.

Of course, the Covid Virus, has changed some things, in terms of POE's. etc. (since March of 2000). Example: Pfizer has stopped
manufacturing brand T*fil and brand H*lcion, since the Covid virus began, to concentrate on the Covid vaccine. etc. (in MX). IDK
about the Roche plant in Toluca, MX. (ref: the V's), in the here and now.

I have never been to Aruba, the desert island, but, it has long been a most popular island in the Southern Caribbean! @Doc Rogue !
(very close to South America) as I remember. (quite close to Venezuela & Colombia). @Doc Rogue, does Cacti still grow on Aruba?
Reason being, I have a 150 SF heated Viranda, with many tropical plants, and Cactus, from Arizona, MX, and Bolivia, S.A. in my mid-rise
Condominium.

@Chancer, the reason I chose you, as a friend, is I have always like the Brit's ! I sincerely enjoy your comments, + my only sister,
4 yrs younger than me, travels all over the world, as, a professional hiker to France/Spain/Thailand/Bhutan / Argentina/ New Zealand/
Canada/MX/Scotland/Germany/Austria/ & "El Camino de Santiago" (her 2nd long hike in the year 2013), after, Bhutan. Her last trip was
in Vietnam (2019) Ho Chi Minh City & a return trip, to Munich & Garmish & the Zugspitze, before meeting me in the UK (2019).

Yes, MX has changed (compared to 20+ years ago). It is still do-able, if you know what you are doing. etc. MX customs and USA customs,
with non stop flights, can be more stressful, imho. I had recent USA pharmacy bottles of target specific meds, & copies of MX & USA scripts.
to cover my arse. (not needed, but, was calming to my anxiety). Imho, MJ carried across from MX to USA is a no-no. (IMHO). + a letter
from my USA M.D. with my ICD-10 codes and DSM-V codes. (again not needed), for either Customs, TSA, or any MX M.D (specifically). It was
glanced over, quickly, the documents, but, imho, still was not needed, specifically. (by the MX F2F MD or, earlier the pharmacist, in Cabo).

I am happy for @Doc Rogue, for taking a trip south of the border, (in the Caribbean) recently, a thing I used to do many times in the past.
Once, in Jamaica, I wanted some weed, the bellhops at former, Runaway Bay resort, delivered several big fat joints to my ocean-view suite,
back many years ago. Again, a generous tip, helped. Just my 2 cents worth.

@Delta L1011 I love reading your posts too, they always bring back memories and make me smile all the way down memory lane. Your sister and I sound like kindred spirits. Sadly I stayed home in 2014 but 2012 was a busy year then work kept me restricted to a week here and a week there for a few years.

2012 was one of my backpacking trips to Asia and I met a couple of Americans in Angkor Wat (brother and sister). He was in the military and the reason I knew he was; is because he was quite evasive about his career but wasn't comfortable enough lying to a supposed 'ally'. I know from my well read Military/Spy stories and family that they aren't supposed to advertise they are military when overseas in certain regions. So in my typical blaśe British attitude I asked "What branch are you in" 🤣😂🤣. That was so funny because he then assumed I was in the military (which I'm not). We ended up spending a few days together. Fun times indeed.

Although, it always baffled me as to why they keep it quiet while sporting very obvious tattoos 🤦‍♀️🤣😂🤣. The military really should sort the tattoo issue out, perhaps I should write them a memo?!? 😅

I bet you and your sister would put my passport to shame, yes, I'm that competitive. In the EU they didn't stamp our passports which really ticked me off, is it too much to ask for a bloomin stamp? I did get one from a nice customs chap in Amsterdam once, its really quite sad how happy it made me. 🤣😎

@Chancer You are correct. Many countries, (for me) in the past 10 years do not stamp my Passport, like they did, in previous decades !
Mexico, Sint Maarten, & Germany still does, (at least in the past 10 years). Further back, Brazil, Jamaica, & Colombia S.A. did. (stamp my
USA Passport). as well as most other countries, decades ago. I still keep a International Drivers License, U.S. Government Motor Vehicle
Operator's ID Card, my TAC Mobility Position Card, Armed Forces of the US Geneva Convention ID Card, & my Dept of Defense USA
Certificat De Vaccination Immunization Certificate pocket card (for Smallpox, Cholera, Typhoid, Tetanus, Yellow Fever, Typhus, Oral Polio,
Flu, Plague, Tuberculine Tine, and, more recently, my three Pfizer shot card, for the Covid 19 Vaccination Record Card (all done in year 2021).
of course, my military ID's are well dated. Int'l Drivers License is not used much anymore, compared to yesteryear. except 3rd world countries).
Yes, my sister, showed me over 5 passports, stamped full, from her travels, from 70's,80's,90's to post 9/11. She was previously married to
a Department of Defense, employee, (now her ex-hubby), and moved from Northern Virginia, to Germany, 8 years, then Japan (Okinawa)
3 years, then, back to Germany, another 12 more years. My sister agrees with you, Bangkok, has the nicest medical facilities, in SE Asia !

I also love Amsterdam, Munich, (for Europe) and of course Hawaii, but, I cannot afford to live there. even though my ex-brother in law,
moved there, (Big Island) of Hawaii, when my sister divorced him in the year 2010. (with a big fat pension & lucrative inheritance). Reason:
Two back to back affairs, (trust was broken). Me? divorced (2007) due to squabbles over money, my ex wanted to live on a high roll, beyond
my means. Last I heard, she is still looking like a gold digger. Seriously, the only one that won were the damn lawyers !!! Looking back, we
were both victims. No kids, no alimony / no child support.

The only people I know who can afford to live in the Hawaiian Islands, are, two long gone USA movie/TV stars, Jack Lord (Hawaii 5-0) &
Gordon McRae, (USA TV's Adventures in Paradise). Even, John Travolta, once had a home on Oahu, but, sold it, after 19 years, around the
year 2006. (John T. has multiple homes in Florida, Maine, & California.). My sister and myself, know of even Dentists and medical professionals
who can't afford to live in Hawaii, due to the very high cost of living. But, a beautiful place to visit, or have a honeymoon, IMHO. Most jobs
are in greater Honolulu. There are few well paying jobs on the other Hawaiian Islands. (paradise to me). Maui has gotten too crowded, but,
the Big Island, especially the Kona Coast, is drop dead gorgeous. But, imho, Hilo is a dump. (well, lots of poverty). Stargazing @9,200 ft at
Onizuka Visitors Center, the only place to use telescopes, on Mauna Kea. imho worth a special trip. (weather permitting).

Sorry for my "wall of text" must be hard to read on Smartphone, I have two of them but, stubborn me, still use a 15" Lenovo Laptop, ThinkPad.

@Delta L1011 I love reading your 'wall of text'. I use a Samsung plus phone so the screen is slightly bigger and makes it much easier. I recently bought a second hand Samsung S5 after sending back the new S7 I bought because I wanted the Pie 9 from before Samsung went crazy with the tracking and T&Cs in newer models. However I'm quite lazy using it, its literally sitting next to me yet I still use my phone because its much easier and I've just gotten used to doing so. That's what's putting me off buying a newer laptop, I just know it will probably sit there unused besides, the version I want with better security/privacy is uber expensive but its still on my Christmas list. I definitely can't use my work one (I don't even use the same Internet connection). You would think I was Pablo Escobar Jr or something with my few hundred valium and Xanax 🤦‍♀️😅.

Do you notice your vaccination card is in French (the international language of law and diplomacy)?. The French are very proud people and its a huge source of pride for them that its the common language in those areas rather than English. We don't mind, too much. 🇬🇧

Between you and your sister you've both had an adventurous life that even makes me envious and I've really travelled alot, although its very different than staying in other Countries for extended periods then you really get the experience of Countries and culture's. Do you still get access to the stores in the bases when overseas? Many many years ago I dated a US Navy lad stationed in Scotland for a year and he used to let me buy stuff from the on-site store to avoid our insanely high taxes (the exchange rates were in our favour at the time so it would have been uber expensive for US personnel on a US salary). It always blew my mind at the price differential on the base, my first car I bought with my own money (after the one my dad bought me) was from that base, an old Toyota Corolla from a family shipping back home. Memory Lane every time we converse, its uncanny. His home station was Pensocola, Florida when he was stateside. It always baffled me because they had armed guards at the main entrance in Scotland where you signed in at the entrance 'hut' yet, the base was in two parts work/living and had a walkway off the main road you could walk down and the entrance on both sides was open (for those that knew). Although, I suspect that changed after 9/11.

I didn't realise Hawaii was so expensive, is that also in comparison to NY and California? I remember John Travolta owned a 747 and built a runway outside his house, how the other half live 😎. I got married in the Bahamas then flew to Florida for another two weeks (even went to Vegas for a few days too). I think I already told you that?

Is DOD the new code for the 'State Dept' that you just knew meant 'spy'? 🤣😂 Probably best you don't answer that or you might find yourself shipped off to a 'Black Site' probably in Poland 🤣. When I mentioned loving military/spy novels I wasn't kidding.😅

I love 'chatting' to you, you always make me smile. 💫

@Chancer I love your signature.......by the Dalai Lama !!! There used to be a meditation facility in the Spa Resort of La Costa, Carlsbad, California,
dedicated to the Dalai Lama !!! It truly is one of my fav signatures !!! I guess we have more in common, as, we get to know one
another. Yes, in Germany, the military bases, had Humbee's with submachine guns, & all transportation was checked with long
mirrors, for suspected bombs, back when the USA was still searching for Bin Laden. (2008). (helicopter base). If you tried to pass
the USA base, without proper credentials, you would be shot on sight ! Ref: post #55.

Yes, the PX in all of Germany, I could get a huge discount, with later my brother in law & my sister's credentials, when, I paid them
numerous visits, while they were stationed in Germany, and, I could use the PX for USAF bases worldwide, too, (now a long time ago) !

If I did not hitch a ride on a USAF C-130 Hercules or a C-141 Starlifter, my airline of choice was Lufthansa B747-200 or B747-400 or the
Airbus A340-600. (across the Atlantic Ocean). Crossing the Pacific was the United B747-200 or the B747-400, or the "3 holers" being
the DC-10 or MD-11, and my most fav aircraft, being the Lockheed L-1011, TWA / Eastern Airlines / Delta Airlines / Hawaiian Airlines,
(of days gone by). Domestic commercial aircraft, was the Boeing 727-200 stretch version.

"Nostalgia" is my thing. LOL. Aircraft, music, fast cars, guru's from my present & my past.

@Delta L1011 Yes, I've always been a socially Conservative hippy which sounds odd but I had some great times and wonderful life experiences, we would definitely have alot in common....

Wow, aircraft, cheap goods and the autobahn, Germany must have been your Disney land. 🤣

I just recently watched the Boeing documentary on Netflix. It was sad to watch the rise and fall of a proud successful American company. Hopefully they can bounce back with proper leadership ?

You mentioned airplanes but if your also interested in helicopters, there's a great book by a British Apache pilot called Ed Macy called 'Hellfire' that was a fascinating read. He goes into detail on all the upgrades we (Britain) made to the Apache after purchasing them from the US for a hefty sum then doing a major remodelling to our engineers own designs to make them better. Quite unusual from us since the US usually gets all the cool military toys. They spent a fortune upgrading an already expensive helicopter and Ed Macy was one of the first pilots. He goes into details on how complex they are to fly because only a small percentage of the population has the ability to use their two eyes to work independently from one another. Its a fascinating read and goes into detail of his time in Afghanistan. Definitely worth the read, I worried it would be too technical for me but he does a great job getting the balance right for a diverse readership.

I'm off to bed since its late O'clock here and I'll just start posting gibberish soon.

Good night America 😴 🌟

Hi Everybody, I read a post from two years ago from a fellow member. I would like to try and update this post and information. Is there anyone out there that travels a lot, such places as Taiwan, Asia, Mexico, Canada? This fellow member said he use to go to Taiwan and purchase his meds. He said he could either get most stuff over the counter or simply go to a doctor.

Here is my question for my fellow members:

What countries can you travel to and purchase most, if not ALL medications?

Is it easy to access the medications in these countries?

Is it a simple thing to purchase most things over the counter?

Or do you need to go to a doctor during your visit?

If successful at getting your medications, how hard is it to leave the country? Do they inspect your luggage for extra medications?

I know it's a lot to ask, but I am hoping someone out there may do this through traveling personally or through their job.

Thanks,
Peru is like the Wild West. Wish I stockpiled. Canada probably has more controlled meds than US. Don’t go there for anything but the scenery, eh?

@Chancer "I used to love to ride on the autobahn" (from Munchen to Nurnberg), as well as Nurnberg to Munchen, or, after a flight to Germany....@Munich's Flughafen Franz-Josef Strauss International Airport. After arrival & connected S1 & S8 to Hauptbahnhof
Munchen, I would love to ride on the autobahn, for a brief trip, with a large V8 engine, in a BMW 7 series sedan !!! But, the
Porsche 911's, with the whale tail wing, would pass me, on the fast lane, it appeared about 175 MPH + LOL !!!

How I miss the autobahn.............verses........
in the USA, I miss the autobahn, (except on occasionally, in the rural Southwest, of NW Arizona, & some places in rural
New Mexico, as long as I had a up to date Fuzzbuster (old school for a radar detector) for the USA Hertz Adrenalin Muscle
Cars and the Penske Muscle Cars. (but it is still dangerous), even in the rural roads of SW USA, if one gets caught, the consequences
are very harsh! One can lose their USA drivers license, with reciprocity in all 50 states, for at least one year, if not jail time, for
driving past 100+ MPH, or 110 MPH+ in the USA. The last time, I tried driving a Penske, 420+ HP supercharged, 2014 Mustang
I clocked the dash installed E,T. monitor, and this hot rod, all Black with a wide yellow stripe, would go from 0 to 60 MPH in only
4.4 seconds, in October of 2013, in Southern Arizona, on a rural road, (Pima County west of Tucson AZ) and/or another place
very rural in the Desert SW, was near Monument Valley (near 4 Corners) in extreme NW Arizona, near the New Mexico state line,
& the Utah border. Just saying. Parts of very rural New Mexico, I have used before, but, about 8 to 10 years ago. Carroll Shelby
Mustangs, Hemi Dodge Challenger SST, or, Camero SS Coupes. It is most unpractical, now, with urban sprawl, (USA) & the age
factor now. (to be safe & responsible), in most of the congested metro cities in the USA.

Finally, in summation, @Chancer, I sincerely appreciate your insight on Boeing Aircraft. I have not seen the Netflix news documentary on
Boeing Aircraft. However, IMO, the Boeing 737 MAX, was a thorn in Boeing Aircrafts side. As well as the end in sight of the 50+ year
production of the Boeing 747, with limited production now of the B747-8 series, the B767 series, (another wide body, & the end of what
I call a "cattle car" , the Boeing 757, which replaced the Boeing 727, with the last year of the B757 in year 2004. My long term favorite for
Boeing was the introduction of the jet age, the Boeing 707. Long discontinued. As I remember Airbus, with the Airbus A300, engaged in
a agreement with former Eastern Airlines, that, from all accounts, saved Airbus from Failure, due to liberal contracts with former EAL,
Miami, Fl in 1977, to the mid 1980's, otherwise, they might have failed. As you said, I sincerely hope Boeing will come back as a leading
aircraft & aviation pioneer.

I also appreciated your prospective on Ed Macy with the helicopters, from his book on the British Apache helicopters. As my former
brother in law, who was a professor for the helicopter pilots who were assigned to Afghansistan in Germany, who tutored the pilots &
families & children of the Military pilots in Germany, I shall plan to read the book you suggested, by Ed Macy. I thank you n advance
for your intelligent insight, on the subjects at hand.

As I am -5GMT, on ESt, it is also my bedtime, as it is past 01::00 hours in the EST time zone in USA. Bedtime for me, too.
Sorry, not corrected for spelling errors, as it is even late in the evening for me.
with kindest regards, I am.

Robert
