Anyone miss the good ole days? Especially those who have been around since...

Its weird I remember what seems like a lifetime ago first coming to this site, before we saw the long term effects of alot of things we are seeing now. I was just trying to understand the meds i was prescribed and came across this site. Now its just such a different world. I am so glad that this community has survived for so long. I know this is probably some nostalgic type rant I'm on but, dang how messed up everything became. It used to be a pain dealing with doctors, well at least for some of my own personal issues but ya know it was like you actually had doctors that had a relationship that I feel like has kind of disappeared. Now going into what is hopefully the end of the pandemic, I wanted to have access to things but now everything is so just disconnected. Anyone else want to go back to those days? lol. I deleted the rest of my rant into how doctors, meds, drugs, technology has changed so drastically since I first came across PR. I probably will wait to get back into the senior thread as to not open up on topics that might not make sense to newer members. But anyways I thought some nostalgic posts about early PR would be fun.

All I can say is that when the internet was first starting up and I found IOP’s, I thought my days of worrying about access to my preferred med were over. I couldn’t begin to imagine what has now taken place. The whole world has turned into “big brother.” Geezus I wish they’d stop taking such “good” care of us…😏

Am watching the series Narcos. Do we EVER learn from the past? The incredible amount of violence and bloodshed that is a result of the whole world’s “war on drugs” is mindblowing. I just can’t believe in this whole international attempt to control the flow of substances that continue to, and likely always will continue to be in demand - that they haven’t learned they will never win? The amount, the cost and the demand is ever increasing. Yeah it blows my mind. I just can’t believe that someone wise enough will start to see that a completely new approach is called for. 🤔
If some people didn't have bad enough anxiety as it is, then "Big Brother" is here to help. Taking real good care of us, yes indeed.

It seems that certain powerful individuals only want to "learn" what they have already determined they want the masses to learn. The bloodshed and suffering is of minor importance to them. The answer is staring us in the face, but I'm not sure it will ever happen in our lifetimes. The cynic in me says they don't even want to "win" the war, that it is too profitable in some ways to keep it going. Who knows if I'm just being paranoid. All I know is this could all be stopped.

I wasn't around for much of the "good old days" but I do remembered ordering sleep medicine and diets pills like they were going out of style. Never had any issues or anything.

Actually I don’t see how this could all ever be stopped, myself. The power and influence black market drug dealing has over whole governments, especially in poorer countries, guarantees that as long as there is a demand for drugs, someone will supply them. And so when the folks who could supply them safely (or at least in much safer ways) refuse to do so, that’s when the black market not only shows up, but becomes more and more powerful. And because of the amount of money involved, the violence and struggles for control just gets even worse.

The ONLY way to stop this problem is to address demand, imho. And how you do that is a very complex puzzle as well.

The only good thing about this massive fentanyl problem is it really is going to force some new ways of looking at addiction and what actually works. What we’re doing now definitely does NOT work…🤔

@jaders the first issue is to address that this isn't a "massive fentanyl problem." Shit, there isn't pharmaceutical-grade fentanyl in the bullshit out today.

I agree, and in these poorer countries the violence is something that I have to make a point of pretending that it doesn't exist because it is too disturbing. When these levels of violence and suffering are involved, you begin to question the level of harm that the "drug wars" are really doing. It seems that to some governments the lives of people in X poor country are not equal to those of their citizens, as if we are not all humans at the end of the day. I think priority should be made to provide safe, legal ways for adults to take certain medicines if they choose to do so, and reduce the need to fuel actual wars in other countries. If there is no need to resort to the black market, the industry would not exist and many such gang wars would have no reason to continue raging. I know this is naive thinking and will never happen but I can dream...

I agree with you a thousand percent. The amount of money we’re pouring into this failed war - we could do so many more positive things with. Supply the meds in demand in safer forms and amounts, as you said. That would help lower the crime that goes with addiction to illegal meds too. Make mental health and good drug treatment available on demand. Address poverty and the lack of resources that good parenting requires. and that often accompanies poor folks, which I personally believe is at the basis of a lot of addiction, (also according to Dr. Mate who’s an addiction specialist.). I’m certainly not saying only poor folks become addicts. But there’s no doubt that the poorer you are the more at risk you also are.

Not only would it help our citizens, but it would greatly reduce the power of the cartels and allow poorer countries to hopefully get free of their hold. I totally get your guilt about what poor countries have to put up with, while we Americans drive so much of this problem with our huge appetite for these substances.

I don’t know how long we can continue to bang our heads against the wall but I do believe that this fentanyl epidemic will force new solutions more rapidly, as it makes very apparent how little we’re accomplishing with the current strategies.

I agree. Some places have made hard drugs legal but you still can’t get a prescription. It’s like prohobition, look at what arose out of that. Why not make these meds available safely and legally? It can’t be any worse than it is now.

Follow up… I just dropped him a note on his website. Hope that works. I like dealing with him.

Damn guys, makes me sad I dont think ANYTHING will ever be the same... but oh how I remember the "good old days"...👌
I also have had numerous bad experiences with counterfeit from domestic and abroad but back in the day, that wasn't even a thing it was always top quality pharmaceuticals.
Im afraid everything has gone to shit😰

Its like living in a corporate police state these days, everything gets shutdown so quickly now.Operation pangea never even mentioned back in better days.My first order for daz came all the way from Peru,I would be daft to try that now. Then I found newsgroups and a few really good vendors in house so no customs.Used them for years, they slowly went away. Then it was years of a friend from the balkans. Now that one has gone.Wonder how theyll deal with it in the near future?

My brother was on this site many years ago when he passed from a car accident and I was younger then him and i remember he always used to order from a vendor that i can’t say because that would be breaking the rules but it must have been 14 years now. He always used them but they just stopped shipping all of the sudden. He would always order from them and never had a problem. It’s amazing how fast time has gone and Pharmacy Reviewer is still going strong.

Oh how much we all miss those days seems like a lifetime ago I had a great place in Germany and many us to us sites Everything was legit and SAFE!! This wad back when PR was starting out So sad!

Haha it doesn't work. But instead of seeing that and changing policy, they're doubling down and making insane mandatory minimums for fentanyl possession. Claiming jail time will deter use. Cause that has worked the past 80 years. It works so well /s

I miss the days when doctors made house calls and you could buy bottles of 250 aspirin in the chemists. You didn't have to run the gauntlet of Challenge 25 to buy a penknife and prescriptions were free.

@kje99 lol right? sh*t is so out of control, like think about how these dumb ____ who end up being barely 18 who buy multiple assault rifles and thats apparently not to be questioned, then some bad stupid sh*t happens. Okay im not even anti gun but anti idiot, and just want common sense. But okay then an construction worket get injured and holy sh8t!!! Stop everythiing people we cannot allow for some vics to be given. And yeah I actually needed a new pocket knife b/c i was working on a project and needed to break down boxes, open packages, etc, and i go into this store that had all kinds of stuff from katana swords to hookahs to kratom to vapes and rare weapons. I ask for a pocket knife and couldnt get one because either I didnt have ID (i am old eenough that I very rarely get carded for alcohol, i mean and thats probably haha its out of policy. But jesus like the knife thing was so insane, because i had just 10 mins prior bought a flavored vape from behind the counter and also delta 9 vape resin cartridge.

Anyways why cant we just be semi, semi rational? And I mean i hate fent, absolutely despise that crap, but idk (well actually idk i cant argue too much on that because im sorry but if you are dumb enough to sell it to others, you sure AF should not be able to just live life without consequences if someone dies) but aside from that, yeah I truly wish we would stop ruining lives over non lethal bs. But also I do think we need order and cant have some of the anarchy we got goin but again it really should be common sense,
idk its just such a shi*t show, and no one wants to compromise so, that was quite bipolar of me.

It really is unfortunate the current state "we" are in at this point. While there have been various phases over the years, it's a bit hard to feel positive about going into the future. Especially when you look at the last ~15 years. In the crackdown on IOPs and specific drugs/chemicals, you had certain countries producing fake and/or analogue chemicals to skirt the legality aspect. Then the domestic market got flooded with all kinds of imitation drugs that were being marketed/sold as the real thing. So incredibly irresponsible and unsafe. I have no problem with "research chemicals" being their own thing, but to falsely market them and/or produce them into counterfeit meds is a travesty. Even normal "street drugs"--who knows what is actually being sold these days. Practicing harm-reduction strategies can only get people so far in today's world it seems. There is just too much garbage floating around. It's so frustrating when I really stop and think about it.

Through cracking down and trying to restrict and limit---our governments have actually made us less-safe. And now I don't know how we even get back to a world without random RCs and counterfeits all over the place.

Yes that’s exactly right. There’s a concept I read about called “the iron law of prohibition.” It goes -
“The harder the prohibition, the harder the drug.”

By outlawing lesser meds they’re just driving this fentanyl crisis and the skyrocketing deaths. I just don’t know how we can ever get this message across tho. All folks can see is - stop supply! But that never works as long as the demand continues. We saw that with alcohol. And it’s a lot cheaper and easier for the cartels to supply bathtub fentanyl than it is to supply legitimate meds that would make us all safer.

So, so unwise…😔
