Background info: daily poppy tea user (formerly, was using codeine,/DHC, but switched to the tea about 3-4 months ago). I was also using THC daily for several weeks, but was about 3 weeks clean at the time of my test. Daily opiate user for the past 15 years. I had also used valium, but hadn't taken any of that in 3 weeks or so.

This is long, but I wanted to give enough detail so others could follow the process.

I got caught off guard a bit, when I found out I had to be tested. I had been tapering down on the tea, but was not ready to jump off entirely, so I knew I was in trouble. I'm recounting what I did here, but please note that I was in active withdrawal for this entire time, so my memory is a bit sketchy, as I did not sleep but a few hours for the first several nights.

The first (and hardest part), I had to stop opiates cold turkey. Opiates can be detected in your urine for up to 7 days, although the average time to clear them is 2 to 4 days. To be safe, I assumed 7 days, since I had read elsewhere that opium has a longer half-life than pharms. Bur, being a daily user, my body metabolizes opiates faster than someone that is opiate-naive, so I had that working in my favor. Side note, if you are on the 'done, pay no attention to this timeline, it will take far longer to clear that from your system, due to its insane half-life.

I ordered kratom tincture, hoping it would take the edge off. No dice, the pain rebound and anxiety was off the chain. fwr, kratom does not work for ppl that have had long-term habits, even when one is just maintaining on a lower dose. I can recall substituting kratom for poppy pod tea (high doses, too) in earlier years and it worked perfectly. This might suggest permanent alteration of brain receptors occurrs at some point. In simple terms, dependence marches ahead and tolerance rises, even when you are using at a lower level. I've heard this over the years from folks that had been life-long users. You can't go backwards. What did help was loperamide, 30mg 1Xper day for the first 2 days. Also, DXM in the form of tussin syrup helps, as it has some affinity for the mu-receptors (the receptors that process opiates). The best thing you can do is exercise, although it is absolute torture during w/d. The more you sweat, the better, this will accelerate the elimination of toxins. Potassium and magnesium supplements should be used to treat RLS, which is inevitable with any type of opiate w/d.

Next thing, I needed to track my progress over the next 7 days leading to the test, so I bought several 5-panel home urine tests. I started by simply hydrating for the first two days, lots of water and coffee (which is a great diueretic, btw). 48 hours in, I took the first test, before I had done any real detox procedures. I failed for both opiates and THC, as expected. So now, to begin the detox cleanse.

I got Certo True Jell fruit pectin packs from the grocery. Add one pack to 32 ounces of gatoride, drink this down, wait a few minutes, then follow with 32 ounces of water. Peed a lot after that, which is good. Went for a run, felt like death warmed over, but I sweated out a few pounds of water. Fruit pectins, btw, will bind to THC in your bile and convert it water-insoluble before pushing it from your system. The beauty of this method is that it is cheap - you can buy a box of 4 Certo fruit packs for about $4, the gatoride is cheap, too.

After 72 hours, tested again, passed for opiates but still failed for THC, so I did another fruit pectin cleanse on each of the next 2 days.

Re-tested after 5 days, still clear for opiates and passed for THC, but just barely (the test line showed up, but very faint). At this point, I did another fruit pectin flush and followed later with a home brew of Palo Azul tea. Day 6, I did one of those GNC detox flush and re-tested (these are good to use a day or so before your test, as they contain creatine, which some labs will look for, to insure that you haven't diluted your urine too much). Passed for both opiates and THC, so I was feeling pretty confidant. Continued to hydrate that evening, next morning was D-Day.

Awoke on D-Day, did one last fruit pectin flush 3 hours before I went to the lab. Now, the important thing: you want to pee two times after the flush, as that will help expel the toxins. However, you don't want to pee much more after that and you need to make sure your urine has color. I took Vitamin B supplements the day before and the day of the test to help with this.

I didn't factor on the wait time at the lab, there were several ppl ahead and me and the urge to pee was really bad. haha, I could tell who the drug users were - they kept hitting the water cooler and pounding water by the quart. I wanted to tell them "too late" (if you wait until the day of your test, you're probably going to fail). When it was finally my turn, I must have peed for 3 minutes straight. But, the urine had good color, so the vitamin B must have done the trick.

I wrote a novel here, but distilling this into its essence:

- stop doing drugs, at least 7 days before your test (and longer, if you can stand it).
- test yourself every other day a week before your test to assess your progress.
- keep hydrating, drink plenty of water and coffee, cranberry juice, and other diuretics.
- use the fruit pectin flush I described, do it at least 4-5 times before your test.
- within 24 hours of your test, find a good detox drink at your local health food store.
- do your final detox flush ~3 hours before you expect to be tested. This is tricky, as you most often will not be able to know exactly what time you will be tested.
- It took me ~5 days to flush opiates. THC takes a lot longer, hence the need for an aggressive detox process.

If anyone has ?'s, hit me up, I did a ton of research on this.

Wow I'm amazed at all the work you have done. This must have taken hours. If it keeps you busy, that's good.
I'm just yakking to get my posts up.
I don't need to do any drug testing. Have a good day.

Posts like yours are very helpful. So many people have no clue what to expect or how to deal with being tested. I just got caught with a couple of drugs in system but not the medication I'm prescribed. Pretty embarrassing but I told her she's not treating my pain andi was desperate.
She wasn't happy but did relent to letting me keep taking one of them. When I think of what we go through to obtain medication it angers me.

Good ol Certos for the win. Man I've come to believe that they have to keep that stuff stocked for those needing a quick fix clean up for a drug test rather than for those who make their own jams and preservatives. 🤣🤣. That shit is tried and true.

So your doctor is actually now aware that you're "sourcing" a pain med on your own, and she's ok with that and even still willing to continue to prescribe what she does for you? That would be a unicorn sighting, imho!

I totally get your anger tho. It's definitely (and sadly) not uncommon.

My doctor isn't aware I got them online. She thought I had them left over from a previous doctor. She only prescribes 3 30mg codiene a day. But she tells me I need hip replacement and back surgery. She's insistent I need to go on sub. I'm about ready to take her up on it. She swears it will help my pain. I'm just tired of this craziness.

Welp, I got a gut-kicker today when I read the drug policy of my new company. All employees are subject to random drug tests, fuck my luck!
I'd be curious to hear from anyone in a similar situation - as in, how often do they test, how much warning do they give you, etc. My company has two levels of testing - one for employees subject to DOT testing requirements (which are the strictist there is), other employees are subject to less stringent conditions. Would it be once a year? Do they actually test everyone? I'm in the finance arm of the company, so I can't see them testing too often, but I'd be interested in everyone's experiences.

@GreenThumb You'd be interested to know that a DOT test is much easier to pass than a regular company test is. A DOT is and can ONLY be a 5 panel urinalysis. No more, no less. This only tests for coke, meth, Opiates, Marijuana and PCP. Thats it. Benzos are not in a DOT test. Now a company drug test can be whatever level of drug test that they so choose: 5, 10, 12, 17 panel its completely up to them. They can also decide if they so choose to do urinalysis, hair follicle, or nails. It all depends on what you agreed to and signed off on when you first started working there.

The reason I know these things in depth is because I got royally screwed over all this. I was a truck driver for Sysco foods...So I had an injury at work and had to go on workers comp. I knew I was going to have to take a drug test. I wasnt at all worried about it in the least because all I had in my system was some xanax(something that is not tested for on a DOT test. I thought I was in the clear. Well when I got to tne office they handed me a drug test form to take to the clinic. Instantly noticed the two options on the paper.....

ā–”DOT drug test
ā–”Non-DOT Drug test. ā˜†ā–ŖļøŽā˜†

They made a clerical error and instead of marking DOT test like they should have, the marked the Non-DOT test..... which DOES include benzos. Sooo long story shorter, I got fired for failing a company test when I would have passed the DOT test.... the one that should have been administered. They couldn't report it to the DOT because it wasnt a DOT sanctioned test. I had to threaten legal chargers if they did because you don't want to have a failed test on your DMV record. I Believe its like a 5 year suspension from driving if you do. The whole situation was stupid and unnecessary.

Why the f*ck do they care if someone in finance takes some rx med? Crazy. I have worked in libraries my whole life. Thank Gawd there’s no reason for drug tests. šŸ˜

Seems like you’d get the best info from a fellow worker once you get to know a few? Still can’t imagine them wasting money on their accounting department. šŸ¤”. I have a friend who works for the railroad where it really does matter but even tho they can test - they hardly ever do unless someone is in an accident or acts ā€œsuspicious.ā€

Can confirm what @SoAndSo says about DOT tests. I recently moved to the transportation department of my company and am in the process of getting my CDL. I was so shocked (and relieved) to learn that benzos aren't even on the test. My life saving subs aren't either. 😻 And neither are any of my gabapentinoids.

The whole situation was stupid and unnecessary.

wow, that is awful. I'm going off the benzos permanently just to be sure, although I think we get the 5-panel test. I'm using small amounts of opiates and reducing by one tick each day. If I can stay the course, I'll be down to nothing before year's end.

@GreenThumb yeah you know not too long ago they I got a call from them stating they had new mgmt and wanted to bring me back on since I still have a clean license. Trucking companies are and have been in dire need for drivers for a long time now. I declined, but only because I have it better where I'm at now. To be honest, most truck drivers keep a bottle of Quick Fix synthetic piss on them at all times in their backpacks for situations like these. I even had one but knew that the DOT test doesnt test for benzos and so I just used my own. I was literally shocked when it came back postive for benzos. I went round and round in circles with HR over that one.

Came here to recommend this for those in need. I got a surprise test for a job offer I really needed. I'm on benzos by prescription but also take above what I am prescribed so I wanted to be safe, plus I had some THC use as well. Went to a shop and fellow working there recommended Quick Fix. I was skeptical but thought I'd give it a go. Everything came back clear and I got the job. Worth the money and the effort to seek it out in my opinion.

Apparently the US military even conducted a study on Quick Fix and other synthetics and confirmed that they all really work. They recommend "direct observation" to deter people from using them. If any company insisted I let someone watch me pee, I'd be walking out the door.

I'm keeping this thread open in order to keep a diary, I hope no one minds.....that said, responses/encouragements are always welcome...

...my long-term plan toward getting off is to take longish breaks (2-3 weeks at a time) and re-introduce the drug at successively lower levels, to exploit the tolerance drop that occurs after each period of abstinence...okay, sounds good, right?

So, my latest adventure, quit C/T...went 10 days off.....had a real rough night last night, not sure what the hell happened, but it was like some sort of withdrawal rebound. I had been getting by fine during the day for the first 5-6 days, although I developed a cough and my pain levels were up, maybe 5 out of 10 during the day, higher at night. Insomnia was unrelenting during this time, I was getting by on maybe 1-2 hours of sleep a night, sometimes none at all. The cumulative effect of not sleeping was damn near catastrophic after 6 days, I could not sit still, concentrate or do anything and I suffered recurrent headaches along with a strange pain in my eye lids, possibly relating to the insomnia. Worse still. I was fiending big-time the last few days a la drug porn and trying to wrack my brain to think of where I might have stashed some pills umpteen seasons ago. I looked everywhere, but no dice. There was a time when this strategy was almost certain to yield something, but I think I've exhausted any remaining stashes over time.

I had ordered my current DOC almost two weeks ago, it was supposed to arrive last Thursday but didn't get here until today. My original plan was just to drive to my remailer in the 'hood and pick up the stuff, but not use right away. Just have it available. I'm one of those oddballs that can do a C/T as long as I know that I have fall-back if things go bad. Doing a C/T without anything around is torture to me. But, given the insomnia and mental crush of it all, I f*cking caved in and did my normal dose today. Jesus-Joseph-Mary, I am high as a kite right now and very sedated, obviously the cumulative impact of not sleeping.

But, there's also the ritual. That goddamned ritual. I like that part too much. This may not be understood by people that just pop Rx pills (unless you create your own routine). The drive to the remailer, the building anticipation, get home, do the set up and get to work. And then, the blessed relief. I'm not sure how much of this is ritual driven, but it has to be considered....

...more later....

Very interesting and informative thread, thank you. I am now out of the workforce, but my partner is tested yearly by his doctor because he has a prescription for Vicodin. Any idea what kind of test they use to do this? 5 panel? He has passed it three times now, so no worries for him, but in case I need to take one someday, just wondering.

The only time I ever was drug tested, a copy of the results was sent to "mychart." So I can see what-all drugs were tested for.

Does your partner have a copy of his results? The specific drugs that are shown would indicate what they are testing for, (so which panel) imho...

Lol, DUH. Stupid me, I have not even thought to ask him if he has a copy of it. Will have to do that. Thanks for the reply.
