I miss ambien

I just got the call from my doctor today that she wants to bump me down to 5mg, because apparently women are delicate flowers and need less. I've been taking 10mg for 15 years maybe? I'm not looking forward to this at all.

Gawd these effin aholes piss me off so much! Out of the blue, for no reason other than pressure from non medical folks.

All you can do is try the smaller amount and then after a month or something just tell them it's not working. That, to me, is your only hope of regaining the original.

Otherwise, join in with the rest of us here...

I would explain to your doctor there's absolutely no reason to reduce your dose when you been on 10mg for 15 years, a reduction would only precipitate withdrawals and make it impossible to get to sleep and possible induce unbearable anxiety symptoms.

The RECOMENDATION is just that, And its generally reserved for NEW patients not existing ones who have been on the medication for years.

Your doctor is doing you a dis-service and i wouldn't just roll over and accept it, These doctors are not the end all be all say all, you have a voice sadly most people are to scared to speak up to their doctors for fear of being talked down to. I get it, I also walk the same line with my doctor and show him that i'm just as educated on whats wrong with me as he is and if not MORE up to date on these things,

Fight your doctor shes wrong.

Thank you for this. I needed to hear this. It's so easy for me to give other people advice, yet it's so hard for me to take my own advice.

I think I rolled over a little because she's retiring, and she claimed her concern is that whoever my next provider may be will almost certainly not keep me at my same dose. Which is valid, and I appreciate her looking out for me in that regard. But that doesn't negate the fact that 1. I've been on it my entire adult life and 2. It's actually a part of my established pain treatment plan, which my entire team of doctors has agreed upon (basically efficient sleep = less need for pain meds.) Recovery, for me, is the most important ingredient to my pain management.

Thank you again for waking me up a little. Ugh I love this board so much.

Sonata was an excellent Z sleep med. They still make it, but don’t prescribe it.

Years ago, when these drugs were new, I was given samples of Ambien and Sonata. Sonata did absolutely nothing for me; it seemed like it was nothing more than a placebo. Ambien, however, definitely did work. I don't miss it at all, though. Here's why: First it gave me a headache, and then it made me fall asleep.

Ambian makes me feel kind of euphoric and hopeful . Great qualities…but wasted at 1 am…I’m always making lists and planning big …snacking and flaking out on social media on the stuff. Day after I wake up in panic hoping I didn’t buy anything or “sound too loopy” on the book of faces. BUT, IT won’t turn my mind off , but I’m not “obsessing” . Without some gabapentin though, I’m up in 3.5 hours

I hope not as I’m waiting for 100 x 10 mg to be delivered to me in around 8 days!.
However @Bobster for the price I’m paying I’m not too fussed🤷‍♂️

@Deanzer
IMHO, because somebody had a bad experience with a sample of med, that doesn’t mean that the med itself sucks. It would be like getting a lousy sample of Diaz. If the sample sucked, would you proclaim all Val sucks? I know plenty of people that thought Zal was great, including myself. They just don’t prescribe it anymore. Hope it works out for you.

I had to write my doctor today and ask for a small handout of ambien this new kitten is just that. And a night owl, and I can't get him into the vet for 2 weeks to get his balls removed.

I NEED SLEEP.

I remember years ago I had 2 siamese cats. One a kitten, the other just a year. I would get woken up at 3 am as they raced thru the apartment and across my back as I lay sleeping. They were something else...

@jaders Yeah I got 3 adult cats and now this kitten, Its been an adventure.. Still waiting for the pharmacy to fill my ambien I think insurance wants a pre-auth!

Always something right?

Yeah @shawnna5 your right there’s ALWAYS something!.
Years back it was SO EASY to get benzos or hypnotics at VERY cheap prices and nowadays it’s becoming harder and harder to get real MCCoy benzodiazepines and even if you can get em some of the internet pharmacies charge outrageous prices!.
If only I knew what would happen I’d have ordered SO MUCH more and kept them in a stash but as they say hindsight is a wonderful thing if only we knew 🤷‍♂️!

My 78 year old mother cannot sleep for more that 2 hours at a time. She has tried every other sleep med available, but the only thing that has ever worked for her is ambien. She can no longer access it because doctors refuse to prescibe it anymore, so she just suffers every day. Chronic insomnia has ruined her life. It makes me very, very angry.

Would she take it if you sourced it for her?

I’ve thought about this, because I know there are at least a couple vendors who sell it. But she would be upset to discover that I know how to source meds and I don’t think would be willing to take them. Thank you for the thought though, I appreciate it.

@Isntiton French brand i think, Good stuff can be very expensive to moderately priced at 1$ a pill, Less then that and I would question the source unless its a bulk deal.

For me ambien is ambien is ambien as much as valium is valium is valium.

Unless you really veer off into the indian market for ambien I've never found a problem.
