I know it’s a popular and easy way to buy bitcoin so I’m giving it a try, but during the registration process it’s asking me for the username and password to my banking app and this is a new one for me. I was expecting it to ask me for routing and account numbers, but this service called Plaid that they use wants my username/password and that feels a little crazy to me. I’m getting to be a bit old though and won’t pretend to be hip to all the modern stuff so looking for some advice from you smarties!

Thanks 😊

I use Cashapp for all kinds of things, just like a debit/cc, but no way would I give away my password. A legit place doesn’t need your password for anything.

Lots of trading apps ask for your bank login when you link your bank account. It’s faster than using routing number/account number. Fidelity, Schwab, etc. never used cashapp myself, been using Coinbase for years but think they asked for it as well during the setup process.

Can buy, sell and send BTC. Also buy certain stocks. Had it for years now. Never a problem. It does charge 1-1.7% to sell or buy depending on the amount. When you do sell you can use it like a debit card. If you send to you bank it’s instant. I love it!!!

@pippi222 you showed your cards when you started talking "hip". that goes with "loaded".

well, enough of the background fun. i have used cashapp successfully for years then up and bought some xbt. it showed on the account but wouldn't confirm when sent to my my private electrum wallet since it never confirmed initially on the blockchain.
then their beloved customer service such as it is well is non existent. really don't know how to go about correcting this but ponging away as the laughable customer service but that's something to watch for, not that there if squat you can do bout it.
edit: @Kermit S how's that for fun? any ideas about get them to fix that? since it is coming from them to my personal wallet i have zero control on their side. how can i make their side confirm when purchased? the transaction/purchase simply say says initiated. wtf is that?

I use Robin Hood for those kinds of transactions. they Don’t charge any trade fees. They don’t have all stocks, etc. on there, but they have most of them. Bitcoin and other digital currency too.

I use CashApp, particularly for the discounts. Lately, I’ve been collecting Bitcoin for my rewards but am seriously considering buying some through them. Do they function like a Bitcoin wallet? or is it just like making a purchase?

Cash app is very safe. They allow you to send and receive money with no fees plus they let you buy sell stocks and crypto currencies like Bitcoin. I use it to buy btc even tho their rates are not so great because of their speed. Gemini takes a full week to release the block on btc withdrawal but cashapp let you use it instantly

Cash app is one of my favorites. No fees and was fairly easy to buy/sell crypto. I now use Coinbase or atleast watch it since crypto is a bit tricky these days

I am a total crypto noob and a vendor said Cash App was the easiest way to get pay with BTC. I downloaded the app, but is asking for picture of driver’s licenses, last 4 of SSN, etc… is this all routine?

Yes this is normal.Any bitcoin software wants verification of documents before it will work.I have this software but still in the playing around with it phase.I also downloaded free wallet to get you a personal wallet to send from wallet to wallet.Good luck.

Cash app is legit as others have stated, many youngsters use it for everything!

So what to use for crypto if you don't drive, don't have a passport and your bank needs a card reader to login, not a username and password?
