ISC LOS ANGELES CA (USPS) Sort Facility Question

Hello

I've ordered many, many packages from ******** in the past ( all mostly shipped from the UK, coming to the US).

When a package is shipped to the US from the UK, I have always seen the package process through the BETHPAGE, NY USPS Sort Facility or the JAMAICA, NY USPS Sort Facility.

This time, however my package shows USPS first processed my package through ISC LOS ANGELES USPS Sort Facility. I am assuming it did head straight to LOS ANGELES as it was there within 2 days of being shipped from the UK (would not have had time to first process through Bethpage or Jamaica).

No complaints, as I live on the west coast… I have literally just NEVER, in years, seen this before. Have anyone seen this?

Knowing our "wonderful" (ha) USPS, I wouldn't be surprised if my package went to NY, and then came back to the west coast though :/

Has anyone had a package process through ISC Los Angeles?

Thank you

Actually… it just occurred to me… with the Hurricane Sandy aftermath, I do know that things are moving slow in the New York/ New Jersey area of the US…

I am reluctant to give USPS that much credit (ha) :/ … but perhaps my package was shipped straight to Los Angeles to avoid the chaos?

I somehow still have a feeling this package will hit New York before heading back to this west coast *sigh*

Any experiences with packages processing through Los Angeles Sort Facility would be greatly appreciated! =)

I'm in exactly the same boat but with ISC San Francisco instead of LA. Mine have always come through NY before. I think it's definitely Sandy related.

Anyone have any opinions on whether stuff gets through these west coast facilities any faster or slower than the NY one?

@pmm-Have you had any change/movement? I have never had anything come in thorough the west myself and I am curious about your experience.

Well, know one updated their experiences??? So FYI, for anyone interested this is the first time I have had a letter go through Cisco and in flew in and flew right back out the next day. Record time for me.

Same for mine!! Always from uk to ny isc, now it is in LA isc with no movement since 11/19

Hi everyone- Sorry I am updating kind of late here =/ I still wanted to share what happened in case someone else has this happen as well/sees this thread.

Essentially, my package (probably due to Sandy) went straight to ISC Los Angeles from the UK (not the normal NY ISC's). ISC Los Angeles (my experiences) is not nearly as fast to process through as the NY ISC's. I am on the west coast, and initially thought that I was in luck and would get my package faster since it came straight to this ISC. No such luck. ha =/ Can't say that there was a crazy, crazy delay though…I received my package in the exact same time as if it would have processed through the NY ISC's (average 9 days for me from UK).

Moral of the crazy story (ha)- we all know USPS is kind of worthless with tracking =) Yet we all check the status (I'm guilty too!) If I would have never even checked the status of my package,it would have still been here in the 9 days regardless. Guess that's all that matters =)

Oh greeeaaaatttt, my parcel is going through the LA ISC again and taking longer than ever. I thought that I heard usps had delegated a lot of its stuff to san diego and such. Grrrr frustration. At least with the NY sort I can expect a certain time frame, but now its only 2 hours away and I cant get it. Fantastic.

If you live where your profile indicates, then anything from the Pacific Region will go there
or SF as it's closer geographically.

After several LL's in the past from there I just order from EU/UK.
Good luck though and hope you receive the letter.

The only time I ever had anything go through LA was merchandise that was sent from either Australia or New Zealand. I don't believe mail is sorted from foreign countries to be sent to sorting areas closest to your home. When a country sends mail, their sorting sends it to the United States, and usually to the closest point of entry.

@Cinderella1 I think you are right about this. I too have had items from Australia and Singapore go through Los Angeles while items from Hong Kong and Japan go through New York. I think it has much to do with available airline routes to either LAX or JFK rather than the US destination geographically.
@ChicaBonita2346 I have found the time it takes to clear the ISC to be about the same for me from either facility.

The funny thing is, it IS from the uk, from my usual vendor. Whr it went to LA I have no idea, usually it comes through the east coast ny isc. Unless amc started shipping from australia or somewhere different?

There are airline flights from UK to the west coast as well as from UK to New York. Maybe it has to do with the timing of available cargo space on certain flights or perhaps pricing contracts between the carriers and the USPS.

@ChicaBonita2346 I think you'll be fine considering the vendor which I have used many times.
We can't discuss this vendor in the open forum because they carry Sch II meds.
Keep us posted. That is weird though.
Perhaps NYC is concentrating 100% on receiving aid for Sandy victims?

Maybe that is it. That or winter storms? I like to rationalize it that way so I dont dwell on it. One of the customers I deal with at my job works for usps, but when I try to ask her questions she just says "i dont know, im not a clerk". Who are these mysterious clerks? Because I know they sure as hell aren't the ones you get when you call the 800 number. Asking the clerks at the actual local usps office is useless too for the most part so... Hurricane sandy it us, lol.

UGH still no movement,i am going to run out of necessary meds!!! Grrr. Still at LA eye-s-see since 12/28. Last time it came through LA, for whatever reason, it flew right through. Granted that is nothing compared to the ny sort waiting I have had in the past. I feel like, damn it, I work all day on my feet for 12 hours for low wages for an insane boss who disregards human life alltogether, total sociopath. Just found out yesterday they are moving my grandmother to hospice care. Cant I at least catch a break and get my damn package??? *sheesh*

I'm sorry to hear this, and I understand the frustration, been there myself ---- including working for a State Agency that didn't give a damn that my father was dying of cancer and I was the caretaker because there was no room at a hospice facility and they would send someone 3 days a week to check on him. Back to the shipping --- if you count the days, since this included a weekend and a holiday, it's really not that long a time. It's just that with everything else you have going on, just one more thing is enough to aggravate beyong what a person needs to go through.

Yes @Cinderella1 , thankyou! That is exactly it....i cant even get time off for dying family members, and this issue is just the icing on the cake I guess. Come on usps, throw me a bone!! Lol. Im sorry you also had a situation like this with your family at some point. Hopefully things will turn around with this new year.

Is this the only real Los Angeles sort facility thread? Is there another one that is just forgotten, dusty, and is never used? I feel so alone here lol. The ny isc sort is constantly getting supportive posts. My letters used to go through NY, but now the last several I letters I received have come through LA isc sort, so I am guessing I will have to get used to that. Why are the other ny isc and miami isc's threads kickin but nothing for the LA isc? Is no one else waiting on a letter from LA sort??? We west coasters should band together and support eachother!! Any other west coast members wanna start using an CA isc thread support one another?

I've had 2 deliveries since Sandy and both went through SF instead of NYC. Both of them flew through ISC but one of them took a few days stuck at the next sorting office. But the other one flew through every stop and it was the fastest one I've received in years. I'll be happy if they keep sending them through SF from now on.

Sure, I don't mind just using this thread. I haven't seen many references to San Francisco ISC so I don't know if it would warrant it's own thread :)
