We are going to start demoting inactive Senior Members. 10 days from today, that is May 10, 2014, if you have not posted in the previous 90 days, and if you do not post at least once every 90 days in the future, your user title will be changed to "Lapsed Senior Member", you will lose access to the Seniors' area and you will have to make 30 more posts to regain access (catchup posting should not be a lot of very quickly made useless one-liner posts) and to go back to being called a "Senior Member". Reputation scores will not be affected by this, they will not change. The demotion will be automatically done by the system but you will receive a PM from the forum software system about it if it happens to you.

This change is to try to make the Seniors' forum as active and up to date as possible. There are currently 1030 Senior Members but only about 250 of those are active, many just make the entrance requirements then lurk! That's obviously not ideal for keeping this this part of the board useful and up to date. I don't think this is too much to ask considering we provide a free forum which is a safe space to chat and swap feedback away from the eyes of vendors.

You will receive a PM and email after 85 days of inactivity reminding you to log in and post within the next few days or risk being demoted. For this reason among others it is important to register a valid email address (ideally an email which you check regularly) to your PR forum account.

-----------------------

To become immune from this demotion you have to achieve a reputation score of 1,000 or more. Senior Members with reputation of 1,000+will receive a private message stating that they are Senior Members for life with no risk of being demoted.

I think it should me more than 90 days. Some people might just want to go dark for a few months. Or like me, get busy traveling for work for long periods. I agree with the "lapse" philosphy that is being suggested, but I just think it should be 120-150 days.

No, it isn't to much to ask at all, however, I would like to clarify a point. Some of the senior members who have stopped posting did so because they got tired of constant flames and drama. Many of these senior members have a lot more posts and reputation points than the entrance requirements. Yes, I know threads can be blocked and people can be put on forced ignore but some of us don't want to go to that extreme so we quietly read. I do see your point with those members who reach 60 posts and then stop.

hmm.... I'm not such a big fan of this. My guess is it will just add more noise to the forum.
For me personally when I buy my medications they usually last more than a year so there's not a whole lot of reason for me to be on the forum so often.

I also usually don't post unless I have something to offer to the forum. I'm afraid members will start posting a lot of "me too" just to remain a senior member...

I see your side too. I know I don't post about pharmacy relevant stuff as often as I used to. I stick to mostly off topic. But I do see the admins point and I think it's a good idea.
They have to keep the forum what it is and I think this change is a good thing.

Unfortunately I don't have a way, technically speaking, to take into account who has large reputation scores and post counts. I might try to get that set up in the future but right now it would take time and money which I don't have to get a demotion system coded which ignored members with very high reputation and/or post counts. Sorry about that.

I've seen you go dormant before and it sucks.
Please don't let the short term drama and BS stop you from posting. The problem posters always seem to post their way to a ban.

I understand. Thanks for responding. :)

If this is implemented (a bad idea IMO) I think it should be longer than 90 days also.

You've been here longer than me. I'm honestly interested in your opinion.
What's so bad about making a single post every 3 months or so to stay active on the forum?

Dang, work has kept me real busy. So getting in is a little harder to come by. :( Although I do agree with the idea.
@drboris, I wanted to ask you something and hope you or the mods could answer it for me. Thank you
