Isn't the name of this thread lovely. There are no off topic posts here. Anything you choose to post is AOK, except for mean or doubting posts about other posters. This is a fun thread, an easy thread, anything goes. Ok, here is my first random thought. It may be slightly offensive but I hope everyone sees it for what it is.

A bit of background, my dh is not religious at all. In fact we had to discuss getting married in the church. My mother was religious and I wanted to please her.

That said, my dh saw a bumper sticker that offended him. Trust me, he is not easily offended; he married me, right?

It said "I found Jesus and he is drunk in my back seat."

My dh was SHOCKED. Maybe he is getting less sarcastic as he is getting older. I personally think that is pretty rude bumper sticker too, just coz it would upset folks? But who would put that on the back of their car. Looking to get hit by lightning, are ya mate?

That's my random thought, what's yours?

i gotta say it doesn't bother me. we have a mutual friend whom is using an avatar of jesus saves, he passes to moses, he shoots, he scores. for easter. kinda funny also.
well to me. i don't sweat the small stuff. at least i hope. it is just humor.
so, how u feeling tonight, fire?

I am unsure. My close friend's dd has been mean to my dd for months now. They both changed schools together at the beginning of this year.

This other little girl has chosen popularity over loyalty, and has a boyfriend at 9! When my dd sits next to her at lunch, her 'friend' says 'Oh, my boyfriend was gonna sit there.' And so my dd moves.

So far I am have managed to downplay w/both my dd and my close friend who is the mom of this little witch kid. We carpool. I do like this woman but do not like what her daughter is doing to my daughter. But I don't think I can separate those 2 feelings.

I do not want to draw lines in the sand, as the girls may get past this and be friends again.

But it is not my nature to be quiet. So I guess I will avoid. That I can do.

listen, unless the girl actively realizes friendship comes first, this thing can take a year or two to wear itself down. some never seem to remember that we can get men anywhere but friends r for a lifetime.
sounds like the line in the sand has drawn itself.
i still recall the ones whom went boy crazy.
ur daughter does not need false friends.

Would you still be friends w/the mom? Or just let it fade? Or make the point that her daughter has chosen popularity over loyalty?

i don't know. i do know i ended friendships with other girls whom were that way.
but, u like the mom.
if u keep new contacts for ur daughter around, maybe u won't have to un-friend the mom.
i think it would get on my nerves mighty quickly if someone hurt my kid. and, in long run, i would blame mom.

Good one Gup. So good I barely understand it, but that's ok. Still sounds like a positive spin and I always love those.

So regarding the Mom thing, I will just avoid I think. Her dd is having her bday party around June 19th. I am gonna try to let it go till then. Just not sure ..... Sometimes confrontation is the way to go. But I ALWAYS over-confront. It's my weakness but also my strength ...

I am so not afraid of losing my friend. I am afraid of meddling and ruining my dd's social activity in this same small class for next year. So okay. I will not confront. Will not work. Will just withdraw. Loss of me and dd is enough punishment for bad behavior and it can not back fire.

Makes me sad to see my dd sad. I need to be smart though. And I will be. Intellectualize past those tiger mom feelings.

Here's my new random thought. Mothers Day. Not sure I like it. My dh is a lovely man but has no imagination. He always asks me what I want to do. Us woman like to be surprised.

Now my dd has been going nuts at school and in her art class making me stuff. That will be fun to see and receive.

As a side note, I did talk to my mom friend the other day. Went ok. I was very careful in my wording. Hope is does not back fire on me or my dd. I also had a string of emails between my dd and her dd which proved a few things I said nicely to my mom friend. Our dd's are 9 and 10 so email privacy does not apply. The girls both know that. But I am NOT telling my dd I sent the string to the other girls mom.

Yesterday a deer leaped over my car, hitting it. The herd was crossing a very busy 6 lane road. They were crossing mostly behind me I guess. The one deer hit/jumped over my car by my back door, right side where my dd was sitting.

I pulled over into a safe double line yellow spot in the middle of the hwy. The deer had limped off to a playground across the street. I was not sure what to do and some country boy stopped and asked if that was me.

He told me to check my care for damage and call the sherif. My car was fine. Maybe a scratch or 2, but you could see the deer hair caught in the top of the back right window. I was worried the injured deer had was in the playground across the street. Boy some injured deer in front of all those kids. I had to make sure the deer was gone or ok.

So I called the sherif and looked and some mom told me she saw a herd of deer and they were all moving fine.

SUPER DEER, it was we are calling it. Weird. Scared me ALOT though. I have lived in this rural mtn town and have not even hit a squirrel.

An interesting story, Fireplaces. Glad both you and deer are alright.
It reminds me of when I was injured by a mother boar (just a minor wound on the foot, although tendon was cut off and I had trouble moving one finger for a month) and was being taken to the hospital... and almost had the car I was in, crashed into yet another boar! They seem to haunt me.

mrcreepers, you just insulted our new moderator! They were posting in the correct thread,''Random Thoughts''. I hope he will forgive you.

Yes, no such thing as off topic on this thread! And @Kris, wild boars are crazy animals, like big pigs w/horns, right? Was the mama boar protecting her babies? Did you get to see the babies at least?

They are fun to see in the zoo but not so up close. Glad you are ok now. I saw another deer hit on the side of the road today. So sad. It's one thing when folks are hunting and eating the meat. To just see a dead animal is so sad.

Sometimes zoos are sad too but I think nice ones serve the purpose of educating folks on the different types of animals and why they are important.

Oh dear, I think we need some funny thoughts. Hey do we have a joke thread here yet? Off to search for one.

Hey Me**, you add here like on DB. Would be fun to get some of that "personal" interaction again. Met lots of nice folks on DB -- you are the only person that I actually know from the DB board -- well, maybe a few others. You are a good soul, that I know. But I didn't know where you lived, now I do!! OK, I will let you know who I am later on -- I kind of like people not knowing.

The things I miss the most about DB are the funny jokes threads, funny pics, and the "what are you having for dinner?" There were some really kickin jokes there. When I discovered that thread I spent @ 4 hours reading some 75 pages of jokes. Sure am sorry I didn't copy the choice ones! Same goes for some recipies in the "dinner" topic. Maybe we could start up some of those topics here. Don't look at me folks, I am just a baby poster right now!

We can start new threads in this off topic (off topic, meaning non-medical in nature) forum. I need to pace myself or everyone will get sick of me. And @zackery, I am gonna put one of my posting style analysts onto your posts. What will you give me I guess correctly? Compliments would be good. LOL.

Back to new threads, I need to look through all the fun ones the forum has already. I need to check out the internet cats. Sometimes those can be funny, or corny. Or both.

I will not get sick of you. Nope, so post on. Adding a personal touch to this board is a good idea -- as long as it is OK with the moderators. And I think the moderators on this board are "refreshing". That is the only word I can think of that seems appropriate.

I think the overall purpose of this board is to help people out with medical issues. And adding a personal touch may make someone more open about discussing them -- and getting real help.

And NO guessing!! You were a dead giveaway with your fireplace!! I kind of look at posting here as a new start!!! And you will get the compliments without guessing right!!:D

I'm all for more threads in the OT section. I'd actually love to see one about recipes, or "what are you having for dinner?" as @Squelix mentioned. I have a few healthy recipes I'd gladly share myself. I'm sure other moderators aren't against as well. This forum section is for such things after all !
