I have recently tried Seroquel for some occasional insomnia , that has been plaguing me . This medication has worked awesome . Normally I get six hours of sleep on a good night . With Seroquel , I have been averaging eleven to twelve hours. One side effect is It does make me tired the next day , until I take a nap . When I take it , I plan on having a lazy day , so it`s not bad at all.

@lana887 , I`m fortunate in this regard. No negative side effects for me , just a deep sleep . And the hangover effect is something I look forward too . I only take it when I have a day off .

May I ask how big was the dose and if I recall it is extended release type of med? So you should not cut it or break it into pieces?

I used to use seroquel for sleep when i was suffering from insomnia for a few years. I used to use it in rotation with zops and anti histamines.

On the nights I used seroquel I would have to go to bed at 8 as it knocked me out so much and would knock me out the next day too unless I went to bed so early. But, they were amazing for sleep.

Seroquel works tremendous for me but it raised my ldl cholesterol by nearly 100 points (213) to the extent all my doctors are forcing me stop it in risk of heart disease

Scary. I’ve only been taking it for a month

That is pretty scary!

Just reading this and some other (older) threads and it sounds to me like Seroquel is alot like Mirtazapine, which is great for sleep if you can tolerate the next day grogginess. This is what a lot of members seem to be saying about Seroquel, too. Both are histamine-blockers which explains why they induce sleepiness.. I'm wondering, has anyone tried both? (not at the same time)...How do they compare??

Does it lose most of its effectiveness after about a month like Mirtazapine?

I can only speak on Seroquel and it definitely loses its effect us this even as close as the first two weeks

To me it works better than Z-drugs or hydroxizine. I would say it works better than anything, I use 25-50mg. Plus it's always available and not controlled. Not sure about side effects, I got none of them if I use it occasionally

Funny that Z-drugs don't work at all 🤷‍♂️

I was on Seroquel for sleep during my second and opiate rehab. Shit worked wonders to get me some sleep even with everything my body was going through. Think I was taking 50 or 100mg at bedtime.

Idk if it was just the Seroquel but I had insane dreams when taking it. First visit to the astral plane for me, shit sticks with me to this day.

I've not tried it. It sounds preferable to the ones I did try. Might see if i can get some for sleep or 'mood stabilizing' as one dr put it.
