i'm sure there are ppl that don't mind it

i feel like it just burns brain cells and refuse to take it now.. i hear things on it, i have minor hallucinations, i get pretty severe paranoia and anxiety... it feels like an opiate with crazy meth side effects or something.

i wouldn't advise anyone to take it though and i'm surprised this drug is even legal. i also feel like your short term memory just goes to total shit when you're on it

it is effective in pain killing, i'm not gonna lie about that.. but not at the price of feeling like you're gonna lose it.. just my 2 cents

I had never heard of Tapentadol until recently, but have noticed it seems to be mentioned more in threads. The strongest pain med I take is co-codamol, but everyone has their own issues and what works for one might not work for another. I don't fancy having hallucinations, so won't be looking to sample this med any time soon, but if it works for people then good for them.

i agree... the weird thing is i never really met anyone that doesn't have these side effects that's why i made this thread. i thought there'd be some ppl in here pushing back a little.. some ppl take a real low dosage and/or can manage them (i think). it's like krokodile to your brain - okay maybe an exaggeration but you literally can't make memories on it.. i have almost no recollection of things i did on it. not to mention i would do stuff in poor quality. and u just black out pretty severly. and i'm pretty sure i experienced serotonin syndrome on it as well, cuz of the shakiness, hallucinations n that... everyone i know that took it was like wtf was that lol. i know someone that got a hold of these, who was moderately addicted to a couple percs a day.. he couldn't even push through the tapentadol side effects n just went thru withdrawal instead. i'm curious to hear some more ppl on it though

@phatboy those are nasty after-effects. Yuck!

As you indicate, these items hit different folks differently. Me, I rather enjoy Tapentadol. I've only had maybe a dozen or two over the years, infrequently to quell more-than-annoying aches and pains (banged my knee up moreso than usual skiing in '22). 100 mg. pills. I find it works very well for me -- quite a bit better than Trams -- and I like the buzzy (opioid-like? I dunno because I've not otherwise gone there) glow.

Conversely, Soma has never-ever-ever worked for me. Most folks think it is great. It makes me feel spastic.

Another one that doesn't work for me at all is Trazodone.

I've never had Tapentadol, but honestly would like to try it. It seems to be under the radar to some degree, and places that sell no other pk's will sometimes have this at a reasonable price to boot. But it does sound like it' has a mix of things I don't really want. I detest tram - it does absolutely nothing for me and I don't get anything from the ssri hit either.

But thanks for the info, @phatboy. Would still like to try one, but it's definitely not high on my list to purchase...

This is alarming, I'm not sure if it's due to the effects on noradrenaline which must be strong if it's causing anxiety and hallucinations, or if it's something as yet unknown. It seems very agitating. I don't like the effects on memory either that you report, opioids don't tend to do that, this is more of a benzo/gaba kind of thing. I wonder if Tapentadol has some actions that we don't yet know.

I haven't heard much about it, but thank you for your report, makes me overwhelmingly likely to avoid this drug.

Use tramadol and you can find it by regular suppliers lines and shippers but dont abuse it.

@phatboy I've been on Tapentadol now for a couple of weeks, only because I couldn't source Tramadol anymore. I'm pretty opiate tolerant as I'm prescribed DHC for my pain in the day and Morphine during the night. The DHC is not enough to stifle the pain I get from all my arthritic joints which is why I used to source Tramadol on the black market. That worked well for me and also relieved my depression. Unfortunately, my source stopped selling Tramadol but has Tapentadol so I went for the lowest dose that he does (he does 100mg and 200mg tabs). It actually works extremely well for pain so I use that in the day and morphine for the night as that also helps me sleep. No hallucinations for me or weird feeling other than normal opiate pain relief feelings. It hasn't done anything for my depression though but I've only been on it for a couple of weeks so who knows.

There are some other places selling tram. Looks like you’re not far from senior status and you should be able to find it if you still want?

I’ve never tried tapentadol but it sounds like it varies from person to person (just like most drugs do.) I do want to try it sometime for myself, but it does seem like its effects vary more widely than most opiates do.

I googled it too and cannot find anything on Tapentadol being discontinued. Fact is I have recently been using Tapentadol as I couldn't source the Tramadol that I usually use. I have now found another source for Tramadol and not sure if I prefer the Tapentadol. I guess I haven't been long enough being back on the Trams to make a proper comparison but my knee jerk reaction is that the Taps worked better. I'll give it time to make a more informed decision as I was a steadfast Tramadol fan before trying the Tapentadol. This is an interesting article comparing the two: Is tapentadol an advance on tramadol? - PubMed

Hey-I am in the same boat as you. Want to DM and talk about our experiences with Tap? I have info and questions.

I gotta hold of ten of them and went through them. And the first thing I noticed is it would cause like a blackout for about 2 hours. Like time Would really start to pass quickly For the duration.

I'll offer a more solid "contrary" opinion: better analgesia and less fuzziness than trams. Longer duration of action, stable, longer term effect (takes a while to increase dosage, etc.). That's at least for me, and my body chemistry. With trams, the head "fuzziness" isn't terrible (I'm guessing the SSRI action) but the analgesia is weak. Would I could actually regularly obtain. We're all different. I read with absolute envy everyone who can use THC for recreation or sleep or relaxation - at any dose (1mg) even mixed 25:1 with CBD it just makes me anxious, etc. A simply horrible, awful, wretched drug - FOR ME. And now legal and available almost everywhere. UGH.

Tap is an important part of my regimen as it keeps my tram tolerance in check. Otherwise I'd probably be ever increasing how much tram I need to take. Have been able to keep both at around 100mg.

@CoralSpringsPete. Very interesting. Again, a reflection of individual chemistry: TRAM clearly works better for you, with the TAP as the sub. I would say I'd be the opposite. The only trams I ever found effective I picked up in Mexico at one of the big chains, and (what looked to be) a good, "name" brand. It was a 200-count bottle of 100mg and lasted me for a very long time. As it was a good experience, I later purchased online a couple of times and just found them to be lousy (I was new to all this back then, so wish I had bought another bottle in MX). The brands were different from what I bought in MX, so there may have been some quality control there. With TAP, I've managed to source a few times and have also found some variation in brands --- including one that was either low-quality or tainted and actually made me feel really awful (almost like serotonin syndrome). Because of my condition, any pharmaceutical in this category can *usually* work for me, but with varying degrees of effectiveness (sometimes trial and error). Long story short: head and neck issues. I would concur on your point about stability with TAP. It was reliable for dosing, so didn't need to take more to meet the baseline analgesia that my situation often requires. This has been a decade plus for me...

honestly?
i went from tram to tap and i love them. they are more potent and do make me sleep better. i'm not sure if they are more dangerous then tram though, so it's not really a long term thing. it is really strong. if i take more then 100mg, i get really sleepy. i don't know enough about them though which makes me nervous, i googled but not a ton out there.
