The importance of a stockpile

Recommended Pharmacies on Pharmacy Reviewer

There’s a lot of food for thought in the above comments. I became tired of the stock pile hoop jumping routine and took a break, to long though. So here I am for a reminder of its importance.

I used to keep a 2-3 months supply of meds around when I was using alot which was pre-covid. Once covid hit and everything got more expensive and harder to get I let my stock dwindle. Yes its nice to have that cushion for a few months if you can afford it

I usually buy a 6 to 9 month supply at one time once I trust a vendor . Over the years , I have ran out of my supply ,or have a vendor close shop/go rouge on me . This has caused me to start hunting for a new vendor. It`s not fun , but it is all part of the world we live in .

I've had the same vendor for years now, but I always try to stay up to date with the senior member section because you just never know...

I should have stockpiled when i had the chance! Just lost my go to guy and now im like a chicken with its head cut off. He was so amazing and a OG, then bam! Gone...
I always kept things under 90 day supply because of concern of interception but now im kicking myself :(

Do you mind if I ask who your go to guy was (or even a hint at the email name)? You can DM me. I think I might have lost mine and he's an OG (bnm/XS). I'm worried about him to be honest. We became friendly and often interact via email just to shoot the shit, and he's been unresponsive lately. AND my stockpile has dwindled to nothing because I was always confident he'd be around... feeling like a mistake because anxiety has been crazy lately! And my doc will only Rx hydroxyzine. Great, thanks. Good drug for making me sleepy but doesn't touch anxiety. Ugh...

would agree- stockpiles have helped several situations. and just good insurance.

I'm reading this and kicking myself in the butt because I always tell myself I am gonna have a stockpile and then never put one together. I would LOVE to taper down to nothing eventually. But it really is hard.

The best way to build a stock pile is to just order when you don't need it? Is that pretty much how it works?

I accumulated my stock pile by not taking them outside "emergencies" (anxiety in the red zone days). But I helped a friend who suffers extreme anxiety recently and depleted my stock pile. Kicking myself but it stopped him from self harm, so no regrets.

I find that I can actually control my usage better for the most part if I don’t feel like I’m running short, altho it’s a bit of a double edged sword because if I really have a lot on hand then I can get a bit too cavalier, altho then the problem is tolerance and that’s a no win game for sure.

I try to have anywhere from eight months to even a year of meds on hand so if things ever got crazy I could do a very reasonable taper.

So yeah - just keep ordering so that you’re saving more than you’re taking. Kind of like saving money - how ever you do it (take less or buy more) I think figuring out what amount of time coverage sounds adequate if you couldn’t obtain them for a while, and aim for that?

One lesson I learned is even a vendor that is consistent, over years, can disappear. So, never, ever get to a place where you feel comfortable and need not to worry. Definitely stockpile at least a 90 day supply. Unless, of course, you are masochistic, which hey, no judgment here.
I wish a lot of us could but stockpiling 3 months worth would cost more these days then most people can afford to do. I guess if they were able to order a little more at a time then that is the best way to go.

Stockpiling absolutely is the way to go. Also, many manufacturers say their products have a use by date but in reality most meds keep their potency for many years - even decades after their official expiry date. Can attest to this. With the world as unpredictable as it is it cannot hurt to have more rathe than less on hand just in case supply chains get wrecked

Abso-tively! I've got some benzs that are nearly 10 years old, and they still work just fine. (I guess I stockpiled, huh? ;))
