What other Muscle Relaxer give closest feeling to Carisoprodol?

Recommended Pharmacies on Pharmacy Reviewer

Other than Soma,
An ER trauma doc told me straight up; benzos (diazepam/lorazepam etc) are the only indicated and effective meds for muscle and nerve related inflammation/trauma. Experience with every listed MR available in Canada; tried them all

Methocarbamol, really?
Never had much luck; similar non controlled med is Zanaflex (Tizanidine)
I've got an old prescription for them (methocarbamol). They make me feel so 'out of it' I use them for emergency sleeping pills when I dont have anything to do the next day. They aren't pleasant.

First line of defense with US government healthcare. My doc says no soma. So now on flexeril. Have taken flexeril, zanaflex, valium,& Robaxcin.

@cajunbulldog Give them a decent go (a month or two) and if they still don't help go back and tell the doc. Don't go back too soon, at least show you gave them a shot and your doc might be more receptive to Soma.

I used to like Soma the best, but I noticed that it stopped working well after only a few days. The best muscle relaxant for me has been zanaflex. It helps me with the pain a lot, but more importantly(since I'm an insomniac) it helps me sleep. It's one of the few meds that can knock me right out. Especially in combination with a benzo and maybe an opiate. Whoa momma. Hadn't tried heroin but me and my sister used to think that combo is what it must feel like. Just blissful nodding off. Even the zanaflex alone seems to do that and it's a low potential for abuse compared to benzos and opiates.
I hope that helps, Good luck!

The only muscle relaxer that my doctor will give me is flexeril. It makes me tired all day and is good for sleep. It does give me cotton mouth though and I feel like I have a hangover the next day. The only other thing that works well for me is Valium, but my doctor has said there is no way that he would prescribe it for that purpose.

I used to like Soma as well, but have not taken that in quite a while. My doctor also prescribes me flexeril for various muscles spasms (face, neck, or back) and though it can be effective, it wipes me out so bad the next morning. I just had a problem with my back recently, and taking 10 mg of flexeril at night really messed up the next day for me. I could not get out of bed until 9 am, and then was groggy until noon.

Soma was my favorite. Could have taken that forever. 20 years ago my primary care doc scripted me 120 a month for 6 months. Made life better but turned out I needed a cervical spine fusion. After the surgery no more Soma. It got a bad rep with the docs due to it's benzo like feel.

Now many decades later I am on flexeril 10mg at night. Dc scripts me 3 a day which has resulted in a stockpile.

HRT has helped me with anxiety and sleep but that's for another thread.

Baclofen sometimes works as well. Skeletal muscle relaxant with slightly sedative properties; Gaba B agonist
I am interested in Baclofen. I have this Flexeril prescription, and they make me so groggy. Do you have any opinion how Baclofen would compare with Flexeril?

Thank you Snoopz. That is very helpful. I loved the Soma, like so many others. I have never tried anything like it before. Fioricet can be helpful, but does not have the true muscle relaxing properties that are needed.

Lower left lumbar spasms @Irwin1005; too many Elvis impersonations. Flexeril and Ativan only two meds that have efficacy.
Baclofen is quite different, overall body effect and a good codeine potentiator
