What other Muscle Relaxer give closest feeling to Carisoprodol?

Recommended Pharmacies on Pharmacy Reviewer

Soma is kind of in a league of its own in this class of drugs. I don't think any of the other muscle relaxers feel similar at all...they just put me to sleep, except Baclofen, which does nothing unless you take ridiculously high doses. The only other thing that's come close for me is Valium, as others have mentioned.

I would say that probably tizanidine is the most similar in feeling. As above, though, you can't really beat the benzos, although some of the others might have some specialist use. I'm not sure what those uses might be but I suppose advanced specialists will be able to use them where it's maybe more appropriate. For general use I just prefer the good old benzos.

I know this isn’t scheduled but easy to find it’s called O-DSMT it’s used as a stinger tramadol

also there is clonadine

Robaxin. Don't listen to people saying Baclofen. Maybe they didn't understand your question or maybe they can't read, but if you didn't like Flexeril you won't like it.

I really have never found any other muscle relaxer similar. The closest thing would be a benzo which doctors are also reluctant to prescribe.

I take flexeril now and it helps with lower back pain. I took Soma for years, but I liked it too much. It was the only drug out of the many I’ve took, that held the abuse potential for me. I won’t take it anymore because of my weakness for it.

I use Tizanidine (brand name Zanaflex). I find that it helps with spasms but it can make you sleepy.

OMG I could have written this post. Soma was the only thing that I could take during the day without making me very sleepy. I have a history of back surgeries and neck/spine issues. But, as you said, Musicmom...I liked it waaaay too much.

Baclofen and flexeril don’t work for me. Soma has worked consistently for spasms

I tried SOMA a few times and didn't like the feelings it gave to me. I stick to flexeril

meprobamate and phenibut are it's closest cousins. Soma is a pro drug for meprobamate

robaxin methocarbamal or however you spell it. Initially thats what I would say. I do not have experience with meprobamate, and phenibut I would regardless of its chemical relation i would say that it is not close. just imo but thats more up the gabapentin lyrica ladder

I’ve been taking the flexeril but only in the evening. Soma, while not physically addictive was one that was easy for me to abuse. A Valium will also help me.

Don’t know the brand name.but I think the generic is tizanidine….but man…the cotton mouth is horrible. I also take low dose gabapentin (to stay asleep) and Allegra for allergies….so the combination MIGHT GET…and keep me asleep…if not for the waking up every 40 minutes for water

Don’t think there are many muscle relaxers that are close to soma , because it is very unique. I heard they close to gorilla biscuits.

Never experienced anything quite like carisoprodol in all my years... Wish I could give some advice. Everything else pales in comparison

Agree with the sentiments here. I've never used a muscle relaxer better than Soma. It really is in a league all its own. All the rest either have no effect or just make me VERY tired... as in, 24-hours of grogginess. I have neck issues (which cause terrible headaches) so have tried various pharmacological interventions over the years. Unfortunately, the ones that worked are no longer made easily available to me... I know many of you have a similar story... which is how I ended up here (or, rather, finally posting on here after lurking for many, many years).

As mentioned above there is meprobamate aka "Miltown" very popular sedative/anxiolytic back in the 60s and 70s and not seen so much now , seems like Soma took its place. These are all drugs under the carbamate family...others of interest that may be available somewhere on God's Green Earth: tybamate, phenprobamate, felbamate, and mebutamate. A very intriguing class of chems for sure!
