One other thing about Soma. All reasonably effective muscle relaxers seem to bring their fair share of fatigue and tiredness. As someone who struggles with sleeping - and that separate and distinct from my chronic neck.head issue, this rather from the racing thoughts "inside" my head - but a few really knocked me out. Flexeril did next-to-nothing for my musculoskeletal discomfort but, man, did it KNOCK me out for about 24 hours... it may have helped me sleep, but it came with a VERY long tail of grogginess, which didn't dissipate until late the next day (so not even good for sleep - the resultant fatigue was as bad - or worse - than a night of no sleep). Soma? As others have noted, it's metabolite offers additional anxiolytic benefits... one of which (especially when timed correctly) is a decent night of sleep - with no extended, next-day tiredness. Alas, its overall far too effective at its intended purpose, which is why it has become increasingly more difficult to be prescribed...I really, really hate this medical system.
